Homemade Natural Skin Care Recipes

Make a facial mask from ingredients you already have in your pantry.

Avocado & Honey Face Mask (For dry skin)
2 tablespoons of avocado
2 tablespoons honey
1 egg yolk
Take the avocado, the egg and the honey and mix it together. Apply to your face. Let it stay on your face for about 15 min. then rinse with warm water.

Milk Bath

One of the greatest beauty secrets from ancient times were long relaxing milk baths. Here is a modern day twist on the ancient milk bath recipe using common household ingredients

1 tablespoon dried rosemary
1 tablespoon dried mint
Peel of 1 orange
2 cups boiling water
1 small box of dried milk

Pour boiling water over the rosemary, mint and orange peel and allow it to sit in the water until cool. Strain off the liquid and mix in the dried milk. Pour the herbal milk solution into your bath under warm running water. Soak in the tub.Now rinse the milk off of your skin and follow up with your favorite natural oil such as almond oil, olive oil or sesame oil.

Fresh Strawberry Mask

Strawberries have salicylic acid in them, this is the same key ingredient in many skin care products you find in department stores. This mask will help reduce blemishes.

1/2 cup fresh strawberries
1 tablespoon sour cream
2 teaspoons honey

Mix together all ingredients until smooth using a fork or blender. Apply to your face and neck and let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water and pat skin dry.

Olive Oil On Your Face?

I use olive oil straight on my face at night before I go to bed but if you want added benefits for a super glow try this excellent mixture.

Mix ½ cup olive oil, ½ cup water and ½ cup vinegar. Use this mixture as a night cream for your skin. You might smell like a salad but… Wow! Really great skin in the morning!

The Olive Oil Facial:

Wet your face thoroughly, apply olive oil and massage it on your face. Now take half tea spoon of sugar and mix it with a little honey. Scrub your face thoroughly but gently. Then rinse your face with warm water. Your skin will feel and look amazing!

Foods That Fight Wrinkles

Did you know that eating strawberries and other foods can fight wrinkles?

Eating Strawberries, citrus fruits, red peppers, and broccoli regularly will help you fight the signs of aging because they contain vitamin C and vitamin C is crucial for the production of collagen. When you have enough collagen in your skin it will ward off wrinkles.
Try to eat two servings of fruit (Citrus preferably) and a serving of red peppers and/or broccoli each day.

These antioxidants also boost your immune system, which helps protect you from diseases, and the beauty benefit of Green Tea is that it will improve your skin and slow the aging process.

Yes, you will start taking off pounds within the first two weeks of using green tea. Some added benefits are: Your skin will have better texture and tone. It will increase your blood flow and cleanse your system, and will suppress hunger.

Is It Possible To Get Nail Fungus From Nail Shops?

Is it Possible to Get Nail Fungus From Nail Shops? Artificial nails are here to stay. It's rare to find a woman who doesn’t wear it these days. Artificial nails are used to make natural nails look more beautiful. However, women have been known to use artificial nails to cover up nail fungus infection hence resulting in a coined word “artificial nail fungus”. Unfortunately, this doesn’t cure  the problem. Instead, it worsens it.

Let me explain. Nail fungus grows in an environment in which there is a lot of moisture and it is dark. When artificial nails are applied to the already infected finger nails, it creates an environment that is both dark and has a lot of moisture. Since these fungi grow only in areas that are airless and if you already have fungus on the nail and cover it up with an artificial nail then it inhibits the easy flow of air around the nail. Fungal nail infections are more common among the toe nails than among the finger nails. But please note that any finger nail that isn’t natural but attached to the real finger nail is a huge contributor to the spread of the fungal infection. It is understandable that when the nails look yellowed as a result of the infection, the natural inclination is to want to put it out of sight and hide because of the stares you get on the fingers or toenails. But know that when you hide the nails under artificial nails, you are creating a more enabling environment that will foster the faster growth and spread of the fungus.

Get rid of nail fungus naturally with Tea Tree Oil!

So, while it is covered, no one else of course sees the nails while it keeps getting destroyed and the condition worsens. If this gets to the extreme, you may not even be able to hide it any longer as the nail becomes so bad that it is virtually impossible to even apply the artificial nails. This is the reason it is better for you to nip the “monster” in the bud.The spread of the fungus nail infection is even more common among the women than men because of the flourishing beauty industry. It is common fact that women these days visit nail shops where professional nail experts help apply the artificial nails they want.

Now, its very easy for women to get their pedicures and manicures done for them at these shops and because of this, nail spas are very rampant and well patronized by women and even some men. However, these same shops which are a source of satisfaction to women can also be a source of sadness as they beautiful nails they go to sculpt their nails, can become infected by the nail fungus infection. This is possible because certain women who also visit these shops may have the nail fungus growing in their fingernails.

Easy Skin Care Steps For Glowing Skin

For most of us, skin care routines have become bogged down with loads & loads of information, products, remedies etc… Actually all you have to do is just spend 3 minutes every morning and night for young, glowing and healthy looking skin.

All your skin needs is just a 3-step routine:

Step1

Cleanse your skin throughly to remove dirt and unclog pores.

Step2

Use toner to tighten up the pores, improving blood circulation and imparting a healthy glow.

Step3

Moisturize with SPF protection during the day to prevent sun damage and at nightime before bed to prevent dryness and to nourish your skin for smoother, softer skin.

Recommended Skincare Products for a flawless complexion!

Acne Fighting Tips

1.   Don’t pick!
2.   Wash twice a day. Lightly in the AM. Extra-thourghly in the PM. Use a mild unscented cleanser.
3.   Dot a small amount of 2.5% Benzol Peroxide on the affected area.
4.    Reduce reddness and inflamation by avoiding hot drinks, spicy food alcohol and overexposure to sun.
5.    Have a professional facial regularly to safely extract clogged oil and dirt without infection or scarring.
6.   Take a rest day. Give your skin a makeup-free day.
7.    Keep your hands off your face. If you do touch your face make sure your hands are washed before you do so.
8.    Eat a healthy diet and get regular exercise to improve circulation.
9.    Exfoliate once a week.
10.  Dry face with a clean towel and don’t rub it. Blot dry.

A little note about SPF

That sun-kissed, healthy glow that comes from spending time outdoors or in the tanning bed is wonderful.
What isn’t so wonderful is the damage that UV exposure leaves behind. Wrinkles, sun spots, uneven skin tone and dryness can all add years to your face.
Knowing how to choose makeup that disguise these problem areas help, but prevention is still the best medicine. Never leave the house without sunscreen on your face.
Facial skin is very delicate and must be protected year round from UV exposure, even on overcast days. If you choose to go without foundation, at least apply a moisturizer with SPF like this one.

Natural Facial Scrub Recipe

My favorite natural scrub for the face is very simple and easy to do. I love using natural skincare as much as I can. I believe the more we use what nature provides for us the better the environment and the better for our bodies.
The best recipe for a natural facial scrub is:

1 tsp. of  raw sugar
1 tbsp. of raw honey

  • Mix the sugar and honey together in a small glass dish with your fingers. Add a little bit of water if it is too thick
  • Wash your face with a  gentle cleanser like Jason Super C Cleanser Gentle Facial Wash
  • Then rinse thoroughly with water, leave the water on your face and apply the paste of sugar and honey to your face.
  • scrub your face very gently with the paste adding a little bit of water if needed. scrub for about a minute all over your face concentrating on the nose and areas that tend to get clogged with blackheads and dead skin.
  • Now rinse thoroughly with warm water.
  • Pat your face dry with a towel and apply moisturizer. When I am not using Olive Oil ( I usually use that at night) I use  Alba Aloe and Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer

Beauty Tips For Dry Skin

Here are my secrets to having amazing youthful skin! This will be hard to believe but I use simple Extra Virgin Olive oil on my dry skin to have beautiful looking skin. This is so simple but it really works. Here are some of my favorite mixtures with Olive oil and other natural dry skin remedies.

To prevent the skin chapping in cold weather, mix a teaspoon of Olive oil and a teaspoon of Rose water. Apply on the dryest areas and leave it overnight.

For an anti-aging mask, mix a teaspoon of Olive oil with an egg. Smooth it all over the face and neck, let it remain till it gets dry. Remove this by rinsing with warm water.
Jojoba Oil is known to help reduce wrinkles and other aging lines. In addition, it helps promote the growth of new skin cells.

For another beauty mask, mix a tablespoon of  Honey, one tablespoon of mashed up Avocado and one teaspoon of Olive oil. Mix well and apply this paste to face and neck (It will be really messy)! Let it remain till the skin for about 10 minutes and then rinse your face until the mask is fully removed. This mask will make your skin soft and smooth.

To Brighten Up A Dull Complexion

Mix a  few drops of lemon juice and a half a teaspoon each of Olive oil and milk. Leave on for half an hour and then wash off with water.

To Get Glowing Beautiful Skin

Use Olive Oil directly on your face out of the bottle!  Olive oil is an antioxidant and protects the skin from harmful and damaging free radicals. It is like magic on your complexion. It slows down the aging process such as fine lines and wrinkles. I use it every night on my face and when I wake up in the morning, my skin is absolutely amazing looking!

You can use Olive oil as a lip balm, a hair moisturizer, a nail soak, a facial cleanser and even a dandruff treatment.

For Smooth, Silky Youthful Looking Hands.

Smooth on a generous amount of Olive oil on your hands before bed, put on white cotton gloves, and go to sleep. Your hands will be softer and smoother in the morning.
